Brawner Show Brings The Music of Ray Charles To Center For The Arts

Kenny Brawner

The Carrollton Center for the Arts will remember a Georgia music icon, January 18, with Ray Charles On My Mind, starring Kenny Brawner.

The show brings the music and story of Ray Charles, who was born in Albany, GA, vividly to life. Performing as Ray, master pianist/vocalist Kenny Brawner leads his 12-piece band and three vocalists (a la the Raelettes) through this American legend’s most popular hits including What’d I Say?, I Got A Woman, Mess Around and, of course, Georgia On My Mind. Monologues reveal how gospel, blues, jazz and country influenced Ray’s style and reflect on American social history.

“Ray Charles was the voice of Georgia,” said Carrollton Arts Superintendent Tim Chapman. “Kenny Brawner’s exciting performance will keep Ray’s music and story on your mind.”
