Carrollton Elementary School third grade Language Arts teacher, Tabitha Walker, was named Carrollton City Schools Teacher of the Year for 2016-2017 following a formal Board of Education recognition of all school-level honorees Sept. 13. Walker will now represent the school district in the state competition.

Principals from all four schools provided warm tributes to honor their school representatives: Dr. Valerie Moss, CHS; Luke Young, CJHS; Tanish Springer, CMS; and Walker, CES.

Karen Wild, CES principal, said of Walker, who has been at CES all nine years of her teaching career, “Tabitha has a heart as big as the sun.”

Zack Bell of Mike Bell Chevrolet, a community partner and sponsor the TOTY program, presented each a gift of appreciation for their work.

“Before the hashtag ALL IN became associated with Carrollton City Schools, there was no doubt you already were,” he said.
