Yet Another Chicken Chain is Coming to PTC

Yet another chicken chain is coming to town!  On the heels of news that Guthrie’s is opening, and with Super Chix having recently opened at the Avenue, Scoville Hot Chicken is now preparing to open at 2100 GA-54 in Peachtree City.  The new chicken joint will open in place of Waffle House, which closed in 2020.  The new location will be the eighth in the greater metro Atlanta area for the locally based chain.

Following the opening of the first Scoville Hot Chicken on Roswell Road in Sandy Sprigs in late 2020, new locations were opened in Athens and in Buckhead in early 2021.  The chain, which is now growing by franchising its concept, has expanded further to Decatur, West Midtown, Marietta, and most recently, Lawrenceville.  There is also a location in New York and other Atlanta area locations planned for Chamblee and Norcross.

Scoville takes Nashville hot chicken to an amazingly “simple stupid” level.  Ordering at the restaurant is via tablet, and the restaurant’s menu is extremely limited for speed and efficiency.  The simplified menu is reminiscent of the early McDonald’s menu, where the options included hamburgers, cheeseburgers, fries, drinks, shakes, and little else.  Scoville’s menu includes the classic hot chicken sandwich available in five spice levels, slaw, fries, a combo with sandwich and fries, plus Stubborn Soda beverages, tea, fresh-squeezed strawberry lemonade, and that’s it!

The centerpiece of the Scoville menu is their hot chicken, which also gives the restaurant its name.  The Scoville scale is a measurement of the pungency (spiciness or “heat”) of chili peppers, as recorded in Scoville Heat Units (SHU). The scale is named after its creator, American pharmacist Wilbur Scoville, whose 1912 method is the basis for measuring pepper spiciness.
